Confidentiality Notice

How confidential information is handled — and the limits you should understand before disclosing.

Version 1.0 draft · Last updated 2 September 2026 · Governing law: England and Wales [to be confirmed]

1. Using this website does not create an NDA

Submitting a form, creating an account or clicking a button on this website does not by itself create a non-disclosure agreement. Any confidentiality obligation arises only from these published terms, from the Submission Terms, or from a separately executed written agreement between the parties.

If you require a signed mutual non-disclosure agreement before disclosing anything, contact the team at [email protected] or +44 (0) 203 576 6565 and we will discuss it before you send material.

2. How we handle confidential material

Where we receive material identified as confidential, we intend to: keep it separate from public website content; restrict access to those who need it for assessment; place assigned expert reviewers under written confidentiality and conflict-of-interest obligations; log access and disclosure; use expiring links rather than open downloads; and disclose to a prospective partner only under controlled access and with your recorded consent.

Public pages do not reveal confidential technical detail, inventor identities, unpublished patent information or enabling information.

3. What is not confidential

Information is not treated as confidential where it: is or becomes public other than through a breach; was already lawfully known to us free of obligation; is received from a third party without restriction; is independently developed without use of your material; or must be disclosed by law, regulation or court order. Where a legal disclosure is required, we will, if lawful, tell you first.

4. Limits you should understand

  • Confidentiality obligations reduce but do not eliminate risk. Consider filing a patent application before disclosing to anyone.
  • We cannot control disclosures you have already made, or make elsewhere.
  • Email is not a secure channel. Do not send enabling detail by ordinary email.
  • Prototype portal areas marked Secure Portal Coming Soon must not be used for confidential material.
  • IPMeld does not guarantee that confidential information will never be disclosed in breach of an obligation by a third party.

5. Controlled disclosure to industry

Prospective industrial partners see an anonymised, non-enabling summary first. Access to fuller material requires an accepted confidentiality position, a recorded request, and approval. Access is time-limited and logged, and can be revoked. Each stage of disclosure is recorded so that both inventor and partner can see what was released and when.

6. Duration

Confidentiality obligations under these published terms are intended to continue for [5] years from disclosure, or indefinitely for trade secrets and unpublished patent information [to be confirmed on legal review]. A separately executed agreement may specify a different period, in which case that agreement prevails.

7. Reporting a concern

If you believe confidential information has been mishandled, contact [email protected] immediately, marking your message for the attention of the IPMeld team. We will investigate and record the outcome.
